The past couple of days has been purple.
On April 21st, 2016 Prince died. On this tragic day, I was on the beach in Puerto Rico and I got a text message, -yeah a text message, telling me that Prince was dead. It was tragic news and one that made me contemplate ending my trip early to come back to Harlem. The place that knows how to celebrate a true icon. In the end, I stayed in Puerto Rico for my entire trip and came back to Harlem in time to still celebrate the songwriter, singer, producer, one-man studio band and consummate showman named Prince- right here in Harlem. Harlem loves Prince.
On Monday, April 25th , I went to the State Building on 125th and Adam Clayton Powell Blvd and danced to Purple Rain, Doves Cry, I Would Die For You, Kiss, 1999, –just to name a few. It was packed. I was engrossed in the experience and it was so crowded that I wasn’t able to capture a lot of photos. I still managed to take a couple of great shots and create a photo album that has both my photos and photos that I was able to pull offline. Enjoy. Rest in Power Prince! Harlem loves you!
